From savoring fine wines in cozy cafés to wandering through charming markets and indulging in the city’s timeless culture, these extended stays gave me a chance to experience the magic of Paris beyond the surface.

Paris, France: Thanks to the 90-day Schengen visa rule, I’ve had the privilege of spending multiple extended stays in the City of Light, including one month and later three months immersing myself in Parisian life. Beyond iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, I reveled in the rhythm of everyday life—picking up fresh baguettes from local boulangeries, exploring quaint markets like Marché des Enfants Rouges, and sipping wine at charming cafés in Montmartre.

These extended stays allowed me to uncover Paris’s hidden gems, from tucked-away boutique bookstores in Le Marais to serene garden corners in Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, creating a deep appreciation for its timeless charm and culture.

I’ve also spent significant time in South Africa, a country that truly captivated me. Over multiple visits—including a three-month stay, a one-month escape, and eventually securing a long-stay visa—I immersed myself in the vibrant life of Johannesburg and the breathtaking beauty of Cape Town:

• Johannesburg, often referred to as the heartbeat of South Africa, dazzled me with its dynamic art galleries, historical landmarks like the Apartheid Museum, and a vibrant entrepreneurial energy. It’s a city that offers not just a new home but an entirely new perspective on life abroad.
• Cape Town, with its iconic Table Mountain, stunning coastal views, and world-class wine in the Cape Winelands, is where adventure meets indulgence. It’s a place that combines luxury with nature in the most spectacular ways.

These extended stays gave me the chance to go deeper, live like a local, and truly appreciate the blend of adventure and luxury that traveling—and living—abroad offers.
